Let’s
talk about collecting contact information.
Building a relationship
and keeping in touch with our prospective
clients is a very important part of internet
marketing or even just business in general.
I firmly feel that building lists with
the contact information of your customers,
prospects, and associates is a matter
of extreme importance.
Getting the info is easy…
Let’s talk about some powerful
ways to collect contact information from
prospective customers.
First, an ‘opt
in form’ on your site is
probably the most common way to collect
contact info. You simply give the prospects
a chance to send you their information.
You can see an example of this on my index
page (and also on the popup).
These
patrons that have sent you their information
so willingly are going to be people that
can truly benefit from what you have to
offer. These are the people that
searched out (or heard about) your offer,
found it, looked at it and liked it enough
to give you their contact
information.
Listen
up; I need to get this out of the
way. Don’t
overlook this paragraph. Never
send unsolicited email. You have no choice
but to obtain your contact information
willingly. It is only ok to send email
to people that have agreed to accept you
email or people that you have made two
way contact with. When I say 'two way',
I’m referring to your past and current
customers, your associates and anyone
that you know personally.
Let’s move on, I got caught up.
Some prospects have to be ‘sold’
on you offer and if you don’t find
ways to collect their information while
they are at your site then they may be gone forever.
What do we do? We
give incentives. We give the prospective
clients a real reason
to share their contact information.
Online, you will notice that special
reports, eBooks, access to member sections
or email courses are common incentives.
An offline example of ‘information
collecting’ would be contests and
pretty much anything with a ‘free
signup’.
One last note...
When someone opts in, their going
to need to get added to a list automatically
and in most cases you are going to want
them to receive a welcome message. Since
normal email software is not cut out for
following up with multiple customers,
you're going to need an autoresponder
(or autoresponders).
Once you collect the information, it
is time to follow up.... So...

up.
