The first time
you join an affiliate program you will quickly
realize that you are going to have to work
and promote if you want to earn.
An affiliate program is not the investment;
the work you put into promoting the program
will be your investment.
Promoting your affiliate programs will
be the only real way to turn them into money
makers. To successfully
promote a program, usually takes time, money
and testing.
You will take weeks and weeks that turn
into months and months to really get everything
flowing, so expect
this and enjoy it. Every second of
your time spent promoting, marketing, selling,
advertising, running a web site and whatever
else you decide to do to promote your programs,
this time is precious learning experience.
Keep these learnings.
It will take
money to promote you affiliate programs,
but something is true: Later
on, you will be able to use the income that
you are earning to pay for the costs of
maintenance, marketing and advertising.
Of course it’s a good idea to promote
your programs in person, but in this writing
I’m going to focus on online promotion.
A person can promote an affiliate program
or even multiple programs from a web site;
all it takes is good information and some
visitors.
The key
to promoting anything with a web site is
traffic. If you don’t have
visitors that are already looking for the
types of opportunities that you provide
then you won’t be making any money
from your web site.
Before I go on, I’ve
got to tell you that showing your visitor
an advertisement in hopes that they click
and buy is one of the least effective ways
to make sales as an affiliate.
So what do we do?
When a visitor gets to your site, one of
two things must happen. Either the visitor
signs up for
your email list (we’ll talk
about this here)
or the visitor reads
information that pre-sells them on
what you are promoting.
When I say ‘pre-sell’, I mean
that you will teach the visitor about things
that require them or inspire them to click
on and follow your desired
action.
In this writing,
the ‘desired action’ will usually
be clicking on an affiliate link, but before
the visitor clicks, you should have already
informed them about why they need to follow
through and buy.
You definitely
don’t need to show them a sales letter;
most likely, when they click through and
visit the site that you promote, they will
be presented with a sales letter. Your task
is to provide useful content that relates
to and builds desire for the programs that
you promote.
Side note:
It’s easier to get a web site than
you would think; I’ve provided detailed
information about getting your own site
on this page.
Find programs
that convert visitors to buyers, and track
your marketing;
if one of your marketing methods or advertising
ventures doesn’t work out, do something
different for a change.
